COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS FROM OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 300 W. DIVISION STREET
Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is releasing video and other materials related to an officer-involved shooting near 300 W. Division St. COPA investigators responded to the scene and began the investigation.
On October 13, 2024, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates this incident began when Chicago Police officers responded to a 911 call from a passenger alerting authorities that there were weapons in the possession of other passengers in the vehicle they were traveling in. After searching the area, officers found the vehicle and gave commands for all parties to exit. The individuals in the vehicle did not comply and as officers engaged, the vehicle fled, resulting in an officer discharging their firearm. Officers then attempted to search for the vehicle, and located it abandoned a short time later.
COPA serves as the designated agency for the City of Chicago authorized to release video and other materials per the Consent Decree and the City’s Video Release Policy.
