COPA RELEASES VIDEO & OTHER MATERIALS FROM OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR 2100 W. ADAMS
Today, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is releasing video and other materials related to an officer involved shooting near 2100 W. Adams Street. COPA received a court order related to this incident on October 7, 2022, which prohibited materials from being released. Once the criminal case concluded, the court order was lifted and enabled COPA to release all related video and other materials.
On August 12, 2022, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of an officer-involved shooting near 2100 W. Adams Street. Based on preliminary information, the incident began when members of the department monitoring a Police Observation Device (POD) observed an individual wielding a firearm. Officers responded to the location and one officer discharged their weapon, striking the individual, who was taken to the hospital. A gun was recovered on scene.
COPA serves as the designated agency for the City of Chicago authorized to release video and other materials per the Consent Decree and the City’s Video Release Policy.
