Use of Force – Citizen Education & Training Course
In partnership with the FBI-Chicago Division, this training will focus on the laws that govern use of force. Participants will also participate in practical exercises (video scenarios and discussion) and a firearm simulation exercise. This is a closed event.
Community Organizing and Family Issues (COFI) – Police in Schools: Know Your Rights Training
COPA, in collaboration with the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, will give a training for parents on students’ and parents’ rights, what to do if your child is arrested, and where to find support if you feel your child’s rights have been violated. This is a closed event.
COPA Community Nights
HOPE Community Church 5900 W. Iowa Street, Chicago, ILThe Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), the city of Chicago’s newest civilian police oversight agency, will host its first community event. COPA Community Nights will give residents of the city of Chicago an opportunity to meet leadership and staff from the new agency, learn about COPA’s investigative process, as well as ask questions and provide feedback. This event is open to the public and this event will be live-streamed.
