Family Winter Fair

COPA will set-up a table and share with attendees at this winter fair the agency role in police accountability. Residents will have the opportunity to learn about various community organizations and participate in fun activities.

COPA plans to attend this meeting comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities.

Multi-Agency Resource Center

COPA staff along with various city, state, and federal agencies gathered at Arturo Velazquez West Side Technical Institute to inform and connect new immigrants to various resources and services that are available to assist them as they transition to life in Chicago at the Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC).

Community Commission for Public Safety (CCPSA) Meeting

COPA’s Chief Andrea Kersten presented the agency goals for 2023 by the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA). The Commission noted the ease and pleasure of working with COPA leadership to draft these important goals. The Commission presented COPA with over 30 goals ranging from investigations, administration, legal, community engagement and research.

COPA Faith Leaders Town Hall

COPA attended the Faith Leaders Town Hall meeting held at New Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in East Garfield Park. The town hall focused on policing and violence prevention in the city. The town hall featured members of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability.

Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Quarterly Community Meeting

COPA met virtually with over 70 community members at the Marshall Square Resource Network (MSRN) Quarterly Community Meeting hosted by Latinos Progresando. This event was created to increase the capacity and strength of stakeholders by collaborating to help improve conditions for the community in the Marshall Square neighborhood.

North Austin Community Center (NACC) Ribbon Cutting Grand Opening Ceremony

COPA attended the ribbon-cutting grand ceremony for North Austin Community Center (NACC). This community event celebration was supported by Grace & Peace Church, Intentional Sports, and By The Hands Club for Kids. The new facility will house after school and out of school programming for youth in North Austin.

New Life Centers Food Distribution Community Event

COPA attended the New Life Centers Food Distribution community event in Humboldt Park to tell residents about our agency and help pass out food. Hundreds of residents attended the event to learn about a variety of community services and to receive fresh produce from the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
