COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 10.14.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 10.7.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Nobel Neighbors Monthly Community Meeting – October 15, 2024

COPA had a great time attending the Nobel Neighbors Community Meeting in the Humboldt Park community. Nobel Neighbors holds its meeting at various community organizations in the Humboldt Park area. This meeting was held at New Life Center Church in Humboldt Park, its focus was to address the various issues impacting residents and to find proactive solutions. COPA was giving out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.

Open House at Clemente’s Parent University – October 15, 2024

COPA attended the Open House at Clemente High School Parent University in the Humboldt Park community. The open house connected parents and community members to the various programming offered by PU while also having local community organizations with resources.  COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information about our role in police accountability.

 

Mil Mujeres Community Networking Event – October 16, 2024
COPA participated in the Mil Mujeres Community Networking Event at the Mexican Consulate in the Near West Side community. The event brought together several community organizations and government agencies to share information about their resources and programming. COPA was giving out information about our role in police accountability and how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD.

Steinmetz Parent University Open House – October 16, 2024
COPA had a great time attending the Parent University Open House at Steinmetz High School in the Belmont Cragin community. This event offered participants information about the onsite programming offered through Parent University and learning about local community resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on how to file complaints and compliments towards CPD.

Belmont Cragin United Trunk or Treat – October 18, 2024
COPA had a great time attending the Belmont Cragin United Trunk or Treat at Foreman High School. The event offered a safe space for families and young people to trick or treat. The event is entirely led by community volunteers and donors and this year served over 7000 people. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give our information about our role in police accountability.
