COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 1.29.24
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 1.29.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. CCPSA Public Hearings with CPD Superintendent Snelling Meeting – 1.30.24
COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) public hearing with CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling. During this meeting the superintendent spoke to the public and answered questions about various policing issues.
Mikva Challenge Safety & Justice Youth Council – 1.31.24
COPA’s First Deputy Chief Administrator Ephraim Eaddy, Deputy Chief Administrator Justin Escamilla, and Director of Public Affairs Carlos Rivas presented to a group at Mikva Challenge Safety & Justice Youth Council on COPA & police accountability’s impact on youth.
COPA Community Visit to DFSS Pilsen Senior Center – 2.1.24
COPA visited this DFSS senior center in Pilsen to help residents in this community learn more about our agency mission and vision. During COPA’s visit we gave out information about our agency and celebrated the Lunar New Year with seniors. These very engaged seniors enjoyed dancing, Chinese food, and cultural entertainment.
Westside Ministers Coalition Community Meeting – 2.1.24
COPA was in Austin on February 1, 2024 at the monthly Westside Ministers Coalition community meeting. One of the primary purposes of the meeting is to tackle various social issues & discuss ways attendees can bring about a positive change throughout the city.
