COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 03.10.25

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 03.10.25. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting – March 11, 2025

COPA attended the Leaders Network Community Monthly Meeting held in the Austin community that was comprised of faith and community leaders that work together to organize, strategize, and mobilize to improve the quality of life for the west side communities. This meeting included a presentation from Yusef Jackson at the Rainbow Push Coalition. COPA attends these meetings to give out information on how to file complaints or compliments towards CPD.

CICS West Belden Community Leaders Breakfast – March 12, 2025
COPA had a great time attending the CICS West Belden Community Leaders Breakfast at their Belmont Cragin campus. This breakfast was connecting local community organizations with the various opportunities to partner with their school community.  COPA attends these meetings to give out information on our role in police accountability and how to file compliments & complaints towards CPD.

COPA Presents at the Midwest Sociological Society Annual Meeting – March 12, 2025
COPA had a great time presenting at the Midwest Sociological Society Annual Meeting. The presentation focused on how transparency is building trust and collaboration, specifically discussing how oversight agencies can share information with impacted families, the public, and media.

Teen Opportunities Fair at Warren Park – March 15, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the Chicago Park Districts Teen Opportunity Fair at Warren Park. This fair gives young people the opportunity to apply for jobs on site while exploring various programs and resources. COPA was able to set up a resource table and give out information on our agency and police accountability.

Southwest Organizing Project 3 Year Anniversary St. Clare Open Gym Celebration – March 15, 2025

COPA had a great time attending the Southwest Organizing Project 3 Year Anniversary St. Clare Open Gym Celebration in the Gage Park community. This event provided a safe space for young people to engage in a basketball tournament, gaming truck, and resource fair. COPA’s was able to set up a resource table and give out information on filing complaints and compliments towards CPD.
