Subject: Javontay Kindred
This post was updated February 14, 2024, to include all relevant video, audio, and Chicago Police Department records in COPA’s possession that are required to be released related to the use of force in this officer-involved shooting and the events immediately following it. Previous court orders entered on April 13, 2023, and April 20, 2023, in the case of People v. Javontay Kindred, No. 23CR0303401, that prohibited COPA’s release are no longer in place. Those orders are included in the materials below.
