COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 4.22.24
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 4.22.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. 2024 Second Chance Summit – 4.24.24
COPA joined the Mayor’s Office, Chicago Department of Family & Support Services, city officials, and community advocates at the 2024 Second Chance Summit which was held in Englewood at Kennedy King College. This event was held during Second Chance Month to connect returning residents to programs and services that can support them. While at this event COPA was able to set up a resource table and share our agency’s role in police accountability.
My Chi My Future Youth Community Meeting at the Puerto Rican Cultural Center – 4.24.24
COPA attended and had a great time at the My Chi My Future Youth Humboldt Park area community network meeting. We look forward to continuing to discuss ways we can help community organizations in this area provide safe spaces for youth to be engaged and informed about city resources.
Citywide Career Fair – 4.25.24
On Wednesday, April 24th COPA’s Chief Administrator Andrea Kersten and First Deputy Chief Administrator Ephraim Eaddy along with other staff at our agency had a great time organizing and attending the Citywide Career Fair. This event which was held at Malcolm X College brought together 62 employers from different industries. Over 500 Chicagoans attended this career fair. The event was co-sponsored and organized by COPA, the Chicago Transit Authority, Office of the City Clerk, and the Chicago Welcomes You Task Force of which COPA is a member.
Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) Monthly Meeting– 4.25.24
COPA attended the monthly meeting of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA). CCPSA holds a monthly community meeting to discuss updates to its agency and address concerns the public may have as it relates to affairs with CPD, Police Board and COPA.
My Chi My Future Youth Community Meeting in Little Village – 4.26.24
COPA attended and had a great time at the My Chi My Future Youth Little Village area community network meeting. We look forward to continuing to discuss ways we can help community organizations in this area provide safe spaces for youth to be engaged and informed about city resources.
