COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 9.25.23
COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 9.25.23. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. 11th Ward Ald. Nicole Lee Career & Resource Fair – 9.26.23
COPA participated in this career and resource fair to help the public better understand the agency mission, explain the importance of police oversight, and informed residents of current job openings. This event took place on Tuesday, September 26th at Bridgeport Art Center.
Northwest Alliance Community Meeting – 9.28.23
COPA met with various not-for-profit organizations to discuss community resources that can be offered to Hispanic communities in Chicago.
CCPSA Monthly Public Meeting – 9.28.23
COPA attended this monthly meeting of the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA). CCPSA holds a monthly community meeting to discuss updates to its agency along with sharing any concerns or comments the public may have as it relates to affairs with CPD, Police Board and COPA.
Taylor Family Center Community Resource Fair – 9.29.23
COPA attended the Taylor Family Center Community Resource Fair in Humboldt Park. At this outreach event, COPA set up a resource table and shared its agency role in police misconduct.
8th Annual TIP (Teens in the Park) Fest – 9.30.23
COPA attended the 8th Annual TIP (Teens in the Park) Fest at Union Park, which was hosted by the Chicago Park District. This event offered teens an opportunity to enjoy live music, dance, poetry, DJs, food, and more. There was also a free youth showcase featuring performances from Chicago’s top 12 artists between the ages of 14-24.
