COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS WEEK OF 4.29.24

COPA had a great time engaging the residents of Chicago in the community during the week of 4.29.24. Our office is committed to helping residents understand how to file a complaint or compliment an officer and explain to the public our role in police oversight. Below is a brief description of our most recent community engagement efforts. Rincon Family Services Job & Resource Fair – 4.29.24

COPA was in the Irving Park community at Rincon Family Services for their Job & Resource Fair. We had a great time participating in this resource fair to share with residents in this area our agency mission, help them understand the importance of police oversight, and inform them of job openings we have available. This event was hosted by Rincon Family Services.

Discover Shine Bright Community Job Fair – 4.30.24

COPA had a great time in the Chatham community participating in this job and resource fair to share with residents in this area our agency mission, help them understand the importance of police oversight, and inform them of job openings we have available. This event was sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Xi Lambda Chapter, Chicago Police Department, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and National Pan-Hellenic Council of Chicago.

My Chi My Future Youth Greater Roseland Community Meeting – 4.30.24

COPA attended and had a great time at the My Chi My Future Youth Greater Roseland area community network meeting. We look forward to continuing to discuss ways we can help community organizations in this area provide safe spaces for youth to be engaged and informed about city resources.

CCPSA Public Hearing with CPD Superintendent Snelling – 4.30.24

COPA attended the Community Commission for Public Safety & Accountability (CCPSA) public hearing with CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling. During this meeting the superintendent spoke to the public and answered questions about various policing issues.

Westside Ministers’ Coalition Community Meeting – 5.2.24
COPA had a great time attending the Westside Ministers’ Coalition monthly community meeting. This organization mission is to provide services that will initiate self-help efforts to improve the Austin community of Chicago in areas of housing, public safety, reentry, clergy involvement, education, health, energy, conservation, community, youth, and economic development to work in cooperation with other organizations sharing similar values.

My Chi My Future Youth Bronzeville Community Meeting – 5.2.24

COPA attended and had a great time at the My Chi My Future Youth Bronzeville area community network meeting. We look forward to continuing to discuss ways we can help community organizations in this area provide safe spaces for youth to be engaged and informed about city resources.

Women’s Health & Resource Fair – 5.2.24
COPA had a great time participating in this Women’s Health & Resource Fair to share with residents in this area our agency mission and help them understand the importance of police oversight. This event also featured free health screenings and several community health resources.

TA98 Youth Hood Fair – 5.3.24
COPA had a great time in Little Village participating in TA98 Youth Hood Fair to share with youth and their families in this area our agency mission and help them understand the importance of police oversight. This event also featured several community organization resource tables, music, free food, art activities, and youth employment opportunities.

Chicago Department of Housing LGBTQIA+ Health and Housing Resource Fair – 5.4.24
COPA had a great time participating in the Chicago Department of Housing LGBTQIA+ Health and Housing Resource Fair in East Garfield Park to share with residents in this area our agency mission and help them understand the importance of police oversight. This event also featured free testing services, affordable housing resources, and legal support.
